The Richest Women in the World

Françoise Bettencourt-Meyers

Forbes magazine places her in 15th place on the list of the richest people on the planet with an estimated fortune of 49.3 billion dollars. This woman of French origin, together with her family, owns 33.3% of the L’Oréal company.

Mrs. Bettencourt-Meyers is 65 years old and inherited the fortune from her mother, Liliane Bettencourt, who died at the age of 94. Up until her mother’s death, Françoise had several conflicts with her mother.

They even went to court against each other. However, they had a slightly better relationship in the last period of her mother’s life.

A lesser-known thing about Mrs. Bettencourt Meyers is that she published books about the relationship between Christians and Jews. She also published books about the gods of Ancient Greece.

Alice Walton

The second richest woman in the world has an estimated fortune of $44.4 billion and ranks 17th on the list of the richest people in the world. She is 69 years old and is the unique successor of the Walmart empire, the famous US supermarket giant founded by Sam Walton.

However, she did not stay and work with her two brothers in the company, instead choosing another career. Also, she chose to live in the city where her parents were born.

Alice became chairman of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas. Plus, she and her brother, Jim, are involved in a project to help charter schools invest in infrastructure and facilities.

The Richest Women in the World

MacKenzie Bezos

She is estimated to have a fortune of over $35 billion, but the amount cannot be known exactly because this is only an estimate due to her shares in Amazon. That’s where she also met her husband, Jeff Bezos, whom she married in 1993 and with whom she has 4 children.

The world is curiously waiting for a new update from Forbes magazine to know exactly how much she is worth. Before marrying Jeff Bezos, she was known as MacKenzie Tuttle

Over the years, she has set up several organizations and even published two books of fiction. She did so under the guidance of her former professor, Toni Morrison.

The Richest Women in the World

Jacqueline Mars

With an estimated fortune of nearly $24 billion, she is the 33rd richest person in the world. At the age of 79, she is the sole heiress of the Mars empire, one of the most famous confectioneries in the world.

She remained in the company until 2016, leaving after almost 16 years in management positions. A lesser-known detail to the general public is the fact that Mars is one of the largest producers of pet food in the US

Now, Jacqueline lives her life as a philanthropist. She is often seen at the National Archives and the Washington National Opera.

The Richest Women in the World

Yang Huiyan

She is the richest woman in Asia and the 44th richest person in the world. She owns the majority stake in the giant company, Country Garden Holdings, and it is incredible that she is only 37 years old.

In 2016, the company was named the third-largest property developer in the world. The history of the empire built by her father, Yang Guoqiang, began in 1997, when he founded the Country Garden Real Estate Agency.

In 2007, he gave 70% of the company’s shares to his daughter, which at the time was worth $1.6 billion. She studied at Ohio State University and is currently working for the company, where she is the vice chair of the board.

The Richest Women in the World

Summary

It may be a “man’s world”, but it is one where women make their presence felt. Even if these women have been enriched by conjunctures, this does not make them less rich.

This is the reality we live in, and a few years ago, “women are in power” may have been a taboo subject. However, it is now very relevant.
