Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been synonymous with superhero movies in Hollywood for a long time now. Since the first MCU movie - Iron Man came out in 2008, the franchise has added many remarkable superhero films to its credit. No doubt, the fan base of the MCU franchise has grown tremendously over the years.
While all the MCU films have been well-made and encapsulating cinematic experiences in their own right, some movies have been more popular than others. This article talks about some of the best movies from the MCU and tells you interesting facts about them.
10. Iron Man
Let’s start with where it all started from! Iron man was the first movie to have ever been made under the MCU banner, and we must stay; it has developed a cult status.
The first half of the movie is particularly incredible. Iron Man successfully captures your interest from the opening scene itself, where Tony Stark's character and his story are introduced. The sheer joy of watching Tony Star coming up with fantastic stuff right out of his garage makes the movie completely worth it!
All in all, Iron Man is a fun movie and easily qualifies as one of the best MCU movies to have ever been made.
9. Doctor Strange
In conjunction with its name, Doctor Strange was a strange and unusual movie to have come out of the kitty of MCU. However, this uniqueness made this movie truly special. It was a single-character movie, unlike most of the other MCU movies, and it turned out to be the best single character MCU movie at the time of its release.
The movie packs some great acting and impressive visuals, which make it a great watch. There is a scene in the film where Doctor Strange asks Dormammu to keep killing him repeatedly till the demon gives up and grants him what he wants - a bargain.
Let us inform you that this movie is full of such dramatic scenes, and we recommend watching it and experiencing this great MCU movie at least once.
8. Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain America: The First Avenger came out when almost all MCU movies used to have an underlying love story in the plot. And guess what? It turned out to be one movie that got the love story bang on and struck an instant chord with the audience.
The relationship that brewed between Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter was the key highlight, despite it being a superhero movie. Another noteworthy character is Nick Fury; we slowly start to see why he is such a beloved character.
Simultaneously, the inaugural movie of the Captain America series managed to retain its ‘superhero movie’ credentials by putting together some fantastic characters like the one played by Chris Evans, along with a convincing storyline beyond the love fare. The movie's action scenes can make you have an adrenalin rush even today, almost a decade after the film was released.
7. Spider-Man: Homecoming
Remember the iconic train sequence of Spiderman that we got to see? Well, this is the movie which it belongs to. Second in the series of the Spider-Man series, Spider-Man: Homecoming has a lot of stuff packed in it, for it to be called the best spider man movie and one of the best from the house of MCU.
Apart from impressively choreographed action sequences, it is the authenticity of the characters portrayed in the movie and their relationships with each other that indeed steal the show.
For example, the honest depiction of Peter Parker transforming into Spiderman from being a teenage boy next door would certainly etch a mark in the heart of the viewers. Spider-Man: Homecoming also qualifies as one of the most grounded MCU movies to have been ever made.
6. Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of Galaxy is a prime example of a great cinematic experience directed by a great director. It’s almost unbelievable how you start to feel connected to each of the characters and start feeling for them within the first few minutes of watching the movie.
And believe us, this connection lasts not just for the two hours of the movie but goes much beyond that.
Ask us about our favorite movie, and we can tell list so many more. However, we absolutely liked how the team held hands and sacrifice themselves to dilute the power and pain caused by the infinity stone.
5. Captain Marvel
Well, how can we talk about MCU and not talk about Captain Marvel! The refreshing portrayal of Carol Danvers is the main highlight of the movie, and she makes it all worth it. Carol is unlike any other MCU hero. She is sarcastic, witty, and has a strength of personality.
Interestingly, Carol likes to mess with people, which is something about her which we like, to be honest! There are several sides of Carol that we get to see and keep us hooked to the movie. For instance, when she talks to Jude Law's character, the incredibly raw moment, suspecting that what she has been told about her history might be false.
The sheer depth in Brie Larson’s portrayal of the scene is unbelievable! It is not just these intense moments that make Captain Marvel a unique movie. It also has moments of humor and some great action that together make it a full entertainment package!
4. Captain America: Civil War
Each movie in the Captain America series is a gem, but the one which truly stands out is the third in the series, i.e., Captain America: Civil War. Here’s how we would like to describe this movie: Civil War imbibed in itself the popcorn entertainment quotient of the first Avengers movie, the gritty nature of The Winter Soldier, and the intensity of the Age of Ultron.
However, at no point would you feel the baggage of these past movies. Instead, Civil War takes the best out of all these and turns it all into something even more impressive. In other words, it is one movie which offers you all and has something for everybody.
Characters of Black Panther and Spider-Man, too, have been woven very well in the plot, so the fans of these characters would not be disappointed either. At several moments in the movie, you would get emotional. At others, you will feel all pumped up. That is where the beauty of the film lies! In the climax scene, the way Cap confesses to Tony is the best climax that we could have asked for.
3. Black Panther
Well, Black Panther had to make it to our list of the best MCU movies. How could it not! Black Panther has a more layered and hooking storyline than any other Marvel movie, its main strength. The incredible storyline is duly supported by superior acting and editing.
In fact, the design and costumes used in the movie are a highlight in themselves! Together, Black Panther excels in all departments, and there is not anything that one can complain about. It’s a great movie!
The best moment of the movie is the one that depicts Killmonger's dream. We won’t mind tagging this scene as the best MCU scene to have ever been shot. Yes, it’s that great, and you must watch the movie, even if just for this incredible scene.
2. Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity war is one movie that takes you to the height of the magic that a good narrative in a movie can weave. By its sheer nature, the movie draws highly from the narrative, and that’s where its beauty lies. This is one movie that mandates you to have watched each of the 18 movies of the series that came before it.
Clearly, it is for Marvel's ardent fans, and one can only imagine the kind of satisfaction and cinematic pleasure that this movie offers to such fans. The movie is the culmination of the series, which ran for over ten years and brought together all its characters.
However, do not get disappointed if you have not watched the series since the beginning. Avengers: Infinity War, even as a stand-alone movie, is so brimming with comedy, action, spectacles, and suspense, that we had to rank it at number two in the list of the best MCU movies. So you have to watch it anyway!
1. Avengers: Endgame
Endgame was the last movie in the Avengers Series. This single fact is enough to convey the significance that this movie holds for the MCU fans. The movie was obviously incredibly made - great characters, exciting plot, amazing visuals, action, and more.
However, we rank it as the best MCU movie for the sheer emotions that this movie could incite amongst the masses. When Endgame was released in 2019, it was the most anticipated and well-received release of all time. And why not?
The fans were certainly excited to discover what the end actually beholds as the bookend to the series. And when the movie actually came out, we are sure we could not have asked for a better endgame!
Well, we had a real hard time identifying just 10 out of the dozens of incredible movies that MCU has made. In fact, if you know the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and have been following the franchise, you know that there’s no movie that they make, that is not good.
Each of the MCU movies is good in its own right. However, if you are a beginner and want to explore MCU, these ten movies can be a great way to get started.
